Salvidor Dali has been one of my favorite artists ever since high school art when i learned about him. His work has for sure inspired me to be a more creative artist and creative person, with his abstract ideas and concepts, I think it is amazing the way that he thinks, and the way that he expresses himself through his work. I believe this image (which was not in the folder posted by Mr. Williams, but is one of my favorites anyways) says more than can be interpreted in one sitting, and is left to the audience of what their portrayal of the image means to him or her. The image attracts my attention because it is so abstract, and "crazy" to me, that I am in awe of how someone could possibly think of something like this, and put it down on paper. As the animals in the shot, drift away from the lens of the narrator, the legs of these animals get longer, more slender, and more abstract. It almost gets to the point where the legs look like they have multiple joints in them, and could almost be mistaken for a spider leg or some sort of insect. What interests me most about this picture is the route that one's eye taken while looking at this picture, it most definitely starts at the giant, white horse that is standing on his hind legs, taking up the majority of the shot, from there ones eye most likely goes toward the back of the shot where the elephant in the distance is walking, and then ones eye goes to the bottom right part where a naked man is holding a cross. After seeing all of this my eye starts following where the cross is pointing, and rotates in a circular path back down the row of animals. I think the clouds look awesome, the setting of a vast desert with tiny mountains in the background also add an extra interesting focal point. However, my favorite part of the picture is the part that I had zoomed into. I think the reason that I like this part of the frame is because the three people that are underneath the monsters show how huge the animals really are. The space of the picture really expands when one notices these people. At first glance It is noticeable on how big they are, but the tiny little figures really ad a sense of enormousness to them. I also really like the elephant in the background for some reason I can't tell you why it just is really cool looking. The majority of the frame contains matter that is in the top third of the frame, and on the left third of the shot as well. There is also contrast within the colors of the picture. i think that it is funny how we learned that blues and yellows are very common within photos, and films, and Dali uses this approach in many of his works. I am very impressed with this work and was excited to see that Mr. Williams used him as an example.
